Musty smelling Ice

I just installed a new fridge and hooked up an ice maker for the first time. Used stainless steel hose. Everything went well other than the ice (have run through many ice batches) smells so musty that you can't drink it. It smells so bad that if you hold an ice cube in your hand, you have to wash your hands. Had the city come out to test our water and he said that there is nothing wrong with our water, and he had no ideas what could cause this. Our tap water in our sink has always had a slight musty smell too but we were able to let the water run for a while before we used it and then it seemed to go away. Any ideas? This is my first post ever so hopefully I am doing this right.
