the tile shower floor drain has been slowly leaking into the basement- we finally pulled away the old insulation and sublfooring is badly moled (black) will flooring have to be removed and new shower floor installed?, or can mold be removed, cleaned up and sub-floor be saved?

Re: mold

Without knowing what the shower floor is made of and how bad the water leak it's difficult from here to say.

It's likely that the water has spread under whatever the shower is made of which means likely you may have to remove that. Depending how bad the sub floor is saturated (also what type of sub floor) with water and the extent of the mold it may very well be just as easy to remove the floor and replace it.

Hard to say from here.

Hope this helps.:)

Re: mold

There ia a new method out there they use carbon dioxide to kill mold not to say that the infested area can stay, but there is another alternative.
these guys are in Charlotte but you can read their technique and they may be able to give you a reference for wherever you are.

Re: mold

Is this the method of using dry ice as a media blast technique?

Re: mold

Yes- it is and it seams to be the next best thing
