Modular - Do I want a new furnace/AC unit with that new water heater & subfloor?

If you work on modular/mobile homes you know a water heater leak horror story. Our insurace is covering the costs after deductable for new walls, subfloor, trim, and resetting of the furnace/AC unit.

It's a mid 90's modular home with a gas furnace. The evaporator coil unit wasin rough shape when we moved in a decade ago. The quote to disconnect and re-seat the furnace unit was more than $2,000 excluding venting and electrical hookup. I was planning on replacing the evaporator coil but the cost just to have it moved has me wondering if we should just bite the bullet and replace the whole thing.

With the cost of doing this I thought seeking outside guidance would be prudent. And yes, we are getting a 2nd quote from a different business.

Scott,

I look at a question like this, as what is it worth to you? There is no way that anyone here can answer your question.

I had problem with heat pump in my modular and bit the bullet and replaced everything .It was like a snowball effect with the old unit ,we fix this it will be fine and then we fix this other thing a couple of days later and it will be fine .1 thousand dollars wasted and 6 grand to replace the whole unit .Better to replace in the first place and not keep wasting money .I got a lennox system and rebates from utility company and rebates from lennox brought it down to just over 4 thousand dollars .Plus newer units are always more efficient .Plus got the installer to give me 4 years free service just in case .So is it worth it to replace YES It saved me a lot of headaches and money .My house is all electric and bill went from 300 + dollars a month to 135 dollars a month .My old unit was with my modular house in 2004 when it was built for my retirement house .Happy yes to a point
