Marvin Door Locking Mechanism - How to Fix?

We have a door purchased from Marvin in 1997. The lock, a multi-locking system made by "Truth," is for a swinging patio door. It will no longer open, and I believe the little thumb turn or whatever it's called does not turn - or maybe just spins. We would prefer to not get a whole new door but are stumped as to get this one fixed. My husband called Marvin and was told they don't repair this door any more. Does anyone have any advice, other than calling a locksmith to see if he/she thinks it can be repaired/replaced?

Check with the hardware manufacturer at

Why am I not surprised that MARVIN DOORS AND WINDOWS CO told you they don't fix their own products or stock replacement parts?

Could it be that they would rather sell you a new door instead?
