beachhouse
marble trouble

Hi everyone,

We just bought a small but stunning beach house ... with a bit of a problem ... the former owner covered two inside columns and the fireplace with gross looking (very dark) marble slabs. We most likely can't get rid of the columns because they seem to support a bearing wall. What kind of paint (technique) could we use to cover the marble on the fireplace and the columns? Or how can we remove the marble w/o damaging the columns/fireplace? Anybody any ideas or similar experience?? Help!

Thank you!!

Re: marble trouble

You could put a stone veneer over it. Or you could tile, or slate tile over it. Paint is going to scratch off, unless you etch the marble, which will be stinky and messy.
