Making huge dormers look good

My wife and I just bought this old farmhouse that we are planning on transforming into our dream home. We have always wanted an old square brick house with a wrap around porch and a big Red barn so that is what we are planning to do with this place. The house has 4 of these huge dormers on it which kind of look goofy right now with the vinyl siding. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make these look more natural?

I am having issues attaching a picture.... Its a .JPG and I reduced the size to under 100kb and I am still getting an error so If someone could help me out with that I will get a pic of the house on this thread, Thanks!

To post images, you have to host them off site and link them here. It's a real pain, but spammers have given us no other choice.

Congrats on realizing your dream property.

That is a pain, but I will see what I can do. Thanks!

I can't see your picture...try again.

However, if you want to change the dormers exterior...look up the options that you have and choose one, or, call a few general contractors to see what's available.

Every region has its own popular exteriors. Vinyl siding is just one in a long list of options. Based on your budget, you can have the exterior that you think looks the best in your house.

I guess I am not smart enough to figure out this picture thing. I guess that is what are the options, I know I can work with a contractor but I am a DYIer.

Try photobucket or Imgur for the pics, they are easy to use. Just google them and read the FAQ's on how to post pics once you're on their website, then how to link to them once you're done. It's not all that hard or I couldn't do it!

Have you added the porch or is it going to be enlarged? That will make the proportions different in the end. Plantings near the house and colors will also have some visual effect here. And ask others what they think; many times our own perceptions are not what others see.

Glad you've found your dream home, now let's get it the way you want it to be!
