Lowering a Floor Addition

We are looking at purchasing a single story house that had an addition put on the back of the house. The addition includes a  bedroom that is about 15x15 and underneath the bedroom is a 15x15 partially finished  basement addition. The problem is that when they built it they made it in a way that you have to walk up about 4 steps to go into the bedroom addition and also 4 steps if you are in the basement and want to walk into the basement addition.

What we want to do is get rid of the  basement addition and lower the floors in the  bedroom addition in order to level it with the rest of the house.  An this be done? And does anyone have any idea of contractor cost for it?

Re: Lowering a Floor Addition

Not sure which would be cheaper, lowering the addition or removing it and rebuilding. The addition is attched to the house so lowering it would reguier disconnection from the house, jacking up the addition, and cutting down the basement wall, then lowering into place. It may be cheaper to demo the addition cut the basement wall down and rebuild.
