Looking for a product, need help

does anyone know where i can find 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" metal tension strapping 14 or 16 guage?

it looks like the metal strapping that plumbers use to hang pipes but the holes in it are offset and it's much heavier duty. my lumber yard doesn't know where to find it and they claim that Simpson Strongtie doesn't have it. an engineer spec-ed it out for me and he doesn't know where to get it either.

any help will be greatly appreciated, be it a website, someplace to call or some type of company that might carry it.

thanks

Ask the engineer (if he'll admit it) just how old the reference book he was using.

Ask the local building dept if they ever heard of it and what they will accept instead

funny you say that....in all honesty i think he's about 75 years old and he doesn't do email. his reference book is probably written in pencil

Simpson makes any number of strap ties in different configurations & Gage's. I have seen something similar to what you described in the catalog.

Try Simpson Coiled Straps coils are from 40 lf to 300 lf per roll.
Other straps are # PA-51 40 inches & PA-68 70 inches.
Also check with USG I just ordered a roll of 1 1/2 inch 16 gage comes in a 100 ft roll no holes have to drill your own or punch them.

I had a few minutes to look. Search for ST strap ties in the on line products catalog.
Ps. Those 75 year old engineers often know a thing or two even if they use pencils.

We use straps like these to secure water heaters (for quakes). You can get them at HVAC supply places (they hold furnaces in attics).

Did you locate the strapping?

Google SIMPSON CS16-R, CS18-R, CS20-R or CS22-R.
