Log Home Walls

Hi! I was hoping someone could answer a question for me, we are looking at purchasing a log home in Minnesota and the inside was there are a lot of cracks between the logs and some of the logs themselves are cracked. They have shoved insulation into the cracks but the never caulked them. This looks very unapeeling. Should another method have been done? Can this still be fixed. The house is roughly 30 years old. The outside of the house has been painted / heavy stain so you do not notice any type of blemish. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Typically the gaps between the logs would be filled with foam backer rod and the covered over with a chinking material.

Thank you for your reply! So I have nothing to worry about then - except a little work ahead of me. It is fixable.
