Re: level pool

The pool we had at another house sat on a bed of good grade sand.

My husband said his father had box blade back in there flattening the spot and clearing it from debris, then he raked it to make sure all the rocks and limbs were really gone, then he put down the sand. He didn't attempt to really level it knowing that the liner of the pool would find a good level and push the sand around to make the curve on the bottom as it wanted.

Re: level pool

A long, long time ago we leveled the area for out above ground pool by doing the following:

- drive a steel rod in the center of the area
- find a "true" and straight 2x6
- drill a hole through the "6" part of the 2x6 and slide it over the rod
- put a 4'level on the 2x6 and rotate it around the area leveling the sand as you go.

oh now that sounds like a much easier way to do it than I described.

Leveling the sand was the easy part, roto-tilling and shoveling out a couple inches of dirt and raking out any stones was the extremely hard part!
