We purchased a house in July. We had it inspected and the guy who did the inspection didn't put in his report about a leaky basement.
Now because we've had a lot of snow this winter so far (Wisconsin), in the basement along the edge of the wall at the top at ground level, it's leaking in pretty good. We have two buckets catching what water is coming in. It's soaking through the floor bards inwards.
I had a plumber out here to see if it was a plumbing issue, and had a roofer come out as well. No problems with the plumbing or roofing. We were told that because the ground around that area is flat it needs to be built up so the water funnels away from the house.
Is this something we can do now even though there is snow on the ground? Probably about an inch or so. Or is this something we'll have to suffer through until spring and then have even more water damage to the house? What can we do now to stop the water from coming in?
