Laminate flooring and floor drains

My wife and I are planning to installing laminate flooring in our basement, but I had a question about how to deal with floor drains. Unfortunately, one small area of the section we wanted to finish has a floor drain. How do I install flooring around this section? I've heard you need to leave the flooring about 3 feet away from the drains, but I'm not sure. Any help anyone on the forum could offer would be appreciated.

wet floors (floor drains) and laminate flooring are not compatible.

what room is the drain going to be in? utility? laundry? bathroom?

Re: Laminate flooring and floor drains

The floor drain is going to be at the edge of the main bonus room in the basement. I realize that laminate flooring and water don't mix, that's why I'm trying to alleviate any problems that might arise. There's already older vinyl tile on the floor that doesn't look good, that's why we were hoping to using laminate flooring instead of just replacing the vinyl.
