Laminate Flooring

I am removing carpet from my floors to replace with Laminate. It will be laid on slab. What type of sub floor should I lay first and should I remove the base boards before laying the sub floor?

Re: Laminate Flooring

1. After you remove the carpet, the nail strips and the baseboards, clean the slab well and let it dry.

2. Next, check to make sure your floor is leveled. If it's not (more than 3/8" over 10'), use self leveling cement to bring it up to satisfactory level. Let it dry and cure.

3. Lay down foam underlayment, specifically designed for laminate, as directed by the manufacturer.

4. Now you can start with the laminate itself.

5. Watch demonstrations on Youtube, if it's your first time.

6. You'll need some tools for the job, you won't be able to do the job without them.

Re: Laminate Flooring

This is the first time I've heard of laminate flooring. How does it work? How does it look like?

Re: Laminate Flooring

Laminate is a type of floor covering, very popular in recent years which resembles wood floor, and sometimes called "pergo". Pergo is the name of a manufacturer of laminate, but There are many other makers, just as good.
