Kitchen Sink Faucet Low-Pressure Leakage

There are many opportunities for modern kitchen sink faucet hardware to leak, and I am not referring to leakage at threaded couplings and valves due to the supply pressure.
Depending on the design, the spout swivel joint, faucet flanges and sink valve stems may leak due to a head of several inches to 12 inches from the water that remains in the spout after the sink valves are closed. What are the recommended sealing compounds and where and how should they be applied so as achieve a long-term seal? And are there any techniques for fixing such low-pressure leaks without having to tear out an existing faucet/spout installation?
Thanks for your help.
