Kitchen Counter top Black Pearl Honed Granite

We are considering Black Pearl Honed granite counter tops for kitchen remodel. I have read opposing information about sealing or not sealing. Please help clear the air for me about staining and etching. Does honed or polished impact staining or etching? Any other guidance is appreciated.

Thank you!

Margie,

For the best answer, take a picture of this particular granite (as they have different names \for the same stones in differnt areas) and make a new thread on the John Bridge Tile forum under the cleaning, care and restoration heading. The resident 'stoners' of the group can give you detailed information.

Highly polished dark colors look awesome, but they will highlight any wear and scratching quickly which I recommend a more subdued color or finish.

Just because something is possible is not always a good reason to do it, and real life is far different than a showroom!
