Kitchen Cabinet hardware

Is there any general rule that says you should pick the same finish on the kitchen cabinet hardware as the hardware on your doors and windows? Someone says if you have oil rubbed hardware on the doors, you must follow suit. I had never heard that before. I guess I want to hear what you all would think. Thanks.

Anything less would look really, realllly bad. Just think about it.

I don't agree at all. It depends a lot on the size of room you're dealing with. The larger the space, the less necessary it is to use matching hardware.

Also many really high end kitchen use different finishes in them. In fact, I was on a home tour this weekend, the value of the home was 1.8 million, and the door hardware didn't match the cabinet hardware.

I would say it is most important to make sure they compliment each other.;)
