Irrigation question

Here's a question in irrigation, automatic sprinkler control:

I noticed that the sprinkler system water pressure is higher when I operate the valves manually than when they are operated by the timer control. Anyone knows why?

The valves are Armstrong, with a bleeding screw for manual operation.

Re: Irrigation question

I have been told that that is a sign that the solenoid/valve is worn out. A similar thing happened with my system, replaced the valves and no more problem. I also purchased the valves from an irrigation supply house rather than the ones from the big box. Same brand, but the quality difference was night and day.

I use Ewing Irrigation and Landscape Supply

Re: Irrigation question

Spruce,

That was exactly what I thought when the client complained, so I replaces all 6 valves w/solenoids with new ones, from a landscape/irrigation outlet - but the problem is still here.

Re: Irrigation question

That's unfortunate. Did the supplier have any information to offer? You might try the manufacturer's website for troubleshooting tips.
