insulation

I just bought a older brick home and I want to make it more energy
efficient and lower my heating bill by adding insulation to the exterior
walls in the house. The exterior walls are plaster with lathboard. I
have only a 3/4 to 1 inch gap between the bricks and the exterior walls,
can I insulate the walls with cellulose insulation or I don't need to do
anything. The house just got tuck pointed

Re: insulation

Have an infrared scan and see where the worst parts are.Your heat loss may be higher in one part than another. You can tighten up a house in some areas at a low cost like the attic access or outlets and doors. Its worth it to start in these places.

You don't want to fill the space behind the brick with anything. That airspace is there to allow any moisture that gets behind the brick to dry out.
