Installing the starter cabinet

In this install the first cabinets is an oven cabinet. Install goes left to right with the oven cabinet butting against the left side wall. Because of possible movement in the structure would it be advisable to screw this cabinet in to the side wall as well as the back wall?

Ed,

It is time to repair the structure if it is moving enough to cause cabinets to become mis-aligned. What makes you think the structure is moving more than about 3 millimeters?

You need to secure the box to any and all structure, including the mating cabinets, that is needed to keep the total weight from hitting the floor, or a person.

Re: Installing the starter cabinet

Thanks for the feedback. In has been quite some time ago since I first noticed a separation develope between the oven cab and the wall. And over this time, guessing maybe 5 years or do gap went from 1/8 to maybe a quarter ,5/16 at most. One of those things that creep up. Taking cabs down saw that the original was not scared into the side wall at or near the face frame. Maybe some screws insidefurther back. My thought was the wall movement could have been an issue if screwed near the opening. Don’t think there are really any structural problems. The house 20 years old.
