How to install fixtures on an air tub with built in waterfall spout
Shelby1102

We are installing an air tub in the master bath that has a preformed built in waterfall fill on the back side of the tub. There are no controls for the water to turn off and on or to adjust hot and cold. We need to cut holes for the controls plus a hand held shower. We do not need a spout. Just the handles and the shower. Since all we can find is a tub kit that has a roman spout, we are at a loss for how to complete this DIY project. Everyone has told us we have to buy the kit with the spout and just "toss" the most expensive part which seems rediculous. Can anyone gives ussomeinformation as to how to complete this install.

Go to a plumbing supply house that serves contractors and ask what kinds of control valves they have like what you need. You might be able to cobble something together, odds are you're going to be buying a complete unit with a spout

Moen and Delta have shower sets with no spouts. You buy the "body" separately for a one handle shower, then a trim set to match. Or you can buy hot n cold stems with a trim kit to match.

Unless you are looking for something that doesn't exist, these items that I think you're looking for are available almost everywhere. Certainly at plumbing outlets.

When you saw and selected the tub, what valves did it have with it? And what does the manufacturer recommend? This ain't "lego" where anything fits anything else. You have to know all the answers ahead of time.

Reminds me of the many times I've been asked to do what is conversion work with standard parts supplied but that could not be used because of non-standard conditions. Everything is a package deal and must be seen that way even if the parts come from different places. The valves should have been selected with the tub and nothing should have been bought until you knew it would be compatible in case you couldn't fit what you wanted- and now you see why. Check with the tub manufacturer who should know the answers.

Transform a small bathroom into a luxurious, relaxing spa with a whirlpool tub – without enlarging the tub opening. Whirlpools are available that fit into a standard tub space and install almost as easily as a regular tub.
