How durable are new painted kitchen cabinets?

I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and I am looking at replacing the cabinets with a mid-line of semi custom cabinets. This level of investment is in keeping with my three-bedroom ranch house. Most lines we are looking at use paints and/or glazes applied to maple.

We want white or off-white cabinets for brightness in a smaller kitchen and there are also many more door style options with new white painted cabinets than with laminates or thermofoil.

The problem is that we have seen white painted kitchens that look pretty bad after only one or two years of use. Does anyone have experience with or advice on commercially made pre-painted kitchen cabinets?

Re: How durable are new painted kitchen cabinets?

I just remodeled my kitchen in an antique white finish, and they are really resilient. I know this because I accidentally scratched one of them, and it didn't damage the finish at all.

I got them from this kitchen cabinet maker.

Hope this helps!
