How do you sand the sides of deck boards
kenora11

I am going back to a transparent deck stain from a semi-transparent. I have power washed and sanded but there is still a noticeable build up of old stain still on the side of the deck boards visible when you look between in the gaps between the boards (which in the case of my deck are not evenly spaced, ugh!). Any recommendations?

Ignore it. After the deck is stained will it be that noticable? When you do the work and the wood is freshly stripped, the difference is noticable to you. Stain the deck and the gaps will generally be in shade and most people except you will probably not notice.

Your choices;

1- remove every other board and sand the sides
2- sand the sides without removing any boards
3- ignore it and focus on more important things in life
4- move

Personally, I'd choose #3

I second both replies.
