hot water pipe

The main boiler in basement 2 air handlers. Switch heating on in the second floor, the pipes make a clanking noise

Re: hot water pipe

The pipe is likely touching another pipe or is touching something metal along the pipe line. When the zone valve opens the initial flow of water will cause the pipe to vibrate, resulting in a clanking noise.
