Hot water not soft
Marty B

I live in an area with very hard water. We installed a softener last year that worked fine. We replaced our tankless water heater with a tanked one. Just after installation the hot water tap would sputter slightly when opened, then all was fine. Installer said problem was reaction between water and anode. He replaced anode and all was OK. Now it appears the hot water is not longer soft.
Any ideas if the anode could cause this situation?
I have Googled the problem and others did have this same problem but did not have a cause.
Any help is appreciated..

Some water chemistry needs an aluminum anode rod rather than the regular one.
