Home restoration and preservation
tthomas2

We have a circa 1905 city home in Jamestown, NY that had been turned into apartments. We would like to restore much of it to the home it once was. Most specifically, we'd like to restore the kitchen to look similar to a 1905 era kitchen (with a few new features of course!) We would like to know where we can find resources on what home interiors looked like during this time period. We were also wondering if there were preservation specialists out there that could come into a home and give us some clues about how the floor plan first read. Any tips out there on finding a preservation company in the northeast?

You might want to start by going to your local building dept. they may have to original plans on file, the the local library, and local historical society.

Here are two links to handouts from Restore Omaha, a workshop for old-home owners here in Nebraska, that might be helpful to you.

Good luck!
