We have a home built in 1905 that we moved to 2 years ago. The first spring we were here, there was water in the basement during and after a big rain storm.
In the basement there is a beautiful fireplace BUT where the concrete wall meets the fireplace, there is a gap that obviously previous owners knew about a leak and used some sort of caulk that now is brittle.
My question is what can I do to seal this gap? Hydraulic cement?
Please help-I want to fix this from the inside before the spring rains come. And yes, I did regrade the dirt away from the house which did help.
