Help please, I need a bit to fit grandpa's old brace

I’m looking for a four-sided shank drill bit to fit my grandfather’s old hand brace, 7/16” to drill maple taps in trees. The newer ones don't stay put. Any ideas on where to find a source?

A lot of traditional woodworking suppliers and large hardware stores carry them like http://www.irwin.com/irwin/consumer/jhtml/detail.jhtml;jsessionid=AMOUVIX14MGNOCQIUBSCIIQKBCQHQJCK?prodId=IrwinProd100166
or
http://www.woodking.com/auger_bits_&_auger_bit_set.htm

If you search the net search for "hand brace auger bits" rather than "drill bits".

Nothing like an old fashioned brace & bit to bore a hole in a piece of wood. I still use my fathers on occasion especially if the hole is large or deep. Love to see those curls of wood coming out.

There's gotta be a power tool for any job worth doing. ;) I remember playing with my fathers brace and bit back on the ranch.

If you can't find anything online, you may want to check out a few swap meets/community style garage sales.
