Help! My 1944 Starter needs to hit the restart button.

Our house is in San Jose and was built in 1944 as a part of the post WW2 building boom. It is approx. 1200 square feet. The windows on the font left lead to identical bedrooms and the right is our tiny living room. i would love your advice and photo references for how we can refresh it and keep it's original modest look. I think it would be nice to have a deeper front porch. We are planing on removing most of the lawn and replacing it with low water landscaping. I think a berm in the front right corner of the lawn would be nice. We face a angled T and need more privacy and screening from that intersection. We are thinking a sage green, white/cream trim, slate grey roof, and a dark door. I am open to color suggestions though. What do you all think? What would you do?
