HELP: Finding basement floor drain

Hi Guys, need some help.
I moved into a house built in 1959 where the entire basement is covered (totally finished basement). Question is, I have no idea where the floor drain is. If my basement is covered, how in the world can I find the drain without tearing out the flooring. Is in in a typical area?

Thanks
Patrick

Re: HELP: Finding basement floor drain

There are companies which specialize in locating pipes and other things. If you can't find one, contact a plumber, who might give you a referral. Expect to pay.

There is a good chance that you don't have one.

Especially if one is not needed. Lots of those around here along with lots that do have drains. These are installed based on need, worry, and code requirements so if there's no need and there was no code requirement when the house was built then you probably don't need to worry about it. Have one installed if I haven't solved your worries; that's a guaranteed fix!
