Has anyone seen this? Interior walls made of concrete...WHY? *photo included

Mind boggling, why does this old house have solid concrete poured into the INTERIOR walls?

It doesn't seem to have any structural significance. But imagine all that weight of concrete resting on a beam below. Why on earth would they have done this back in the 1900s? The attached photo is on the 2nd floor of this 2-family / 2-story house.

You will find all kinds of things in older structures because at that time, the people doing the work used the material at hand. That looks like very light weight concrete, and even some of them being light weight concrete blocks, I see perfect straight edge on some.
