Hardwire a plug

Just got a new security camera system and I️ what to hardwire it.  However the system comes with plugs.  How do you change it from a plug to a hardwire in the wall

Theodore,

At the location that you place a camera, use an electrical box to mount the camera, and make all the electrical connections. Use the same number of wires that are in the camera, connect each to another wire that runs back to where you want them. I am assuming that each camera must have electrical and data. But you are not allowed to have both of them in the same electrical box. Each must have its own. You would not want to have electrical and data very close to each other anyway. The electrical noise will only adversely affect data. Each junction box Must be readily accessible. You cannot bury or cover any connection, be it electrical or data in an inaccessible area.

With the small amount of information that you provided, that is all the advice I can give. You did not mention the type or wire, if the wire was carrying data, electrical or both. Does the camera use coax. We need a little more information to help.

Thanks for responding.  The Cameras are wireless with 12 volt plug.  I want to hard wire them, and conceal the wire behind a wall.  The problem is, I don't think I can just splice the outlet and the camera together.  Won't that fry the camera?  Thanks for the reply once again, please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Theodore,

Than all you want to do is extend the power cable. What I refer to as "Electrical box" is any box that can be used to make a splice or a junction. Even though this is low voltage, it is always good to make every splice in an electrical box. You will need to not place the powered electrical box any further away than possible. This is the outlet device. Low voltage DC cannot travel long distances. So the length of the house would be out of the question.

We would really need to know more information to be able to answer your question correctly. Like are the transformers converting the AC to DC? Wireless means the signal to carry the data back to a local network. Make sure that your network router is heavily secured, or someone will be able to break in and take over your network.
