growing new lawn on a slope
LieslsMom

This is the 2nd time we have attempted to seed this particular part of the lawn. This is the 2nd time torrential downpours washed away the seed, dirt and sweat equity. We used straw as a cover the first time. This time, if we knew there was a heavy rain coming, we would tarp the area beforehand. (The seeds had not yet taken). This last storm was not predicted and we have new gullies running through that area.
Any ideas as to how to keep this from happening until the lawn can be established? We live in CT where the weather lately has been more like Seattle. GRRRR

Sounds like you need to use sod.

I would recommend sod as well. Sod has many advantages over seed (erosion control is one of them ) which offsets the initial cost of using it.
