The fence (Chain Link) in our yard does not go all the way to the ground. We have a small dog and we are worried that he might escape under the fence. Does anyone have any ideas about what we could do to secure our yard?
you could line the fence with chicken wire or another small opening wire or you could have the proper length of chain link installed, stretched and have a lower bar attached to it to prevent the dog from pushing up a section.
I would do the first, burying about a foot of the wire in the ground to prevent dig out.
You don't say how far this fence is from the ground, so I'll toss out a couple ideas that may or may not apply.
You could add a "footboard" along the bottom. This could be a treated 2"x12" , 2"x8" or 2"x6". One way to secure it is to drive treated stakes in ground and then screw your footboard to those. If ACQ treated stock, use SS screws.
Or you might forego the stakes and use something like a 2"x2" as a horizontal "clamp" on the backside of the fence by screwing thru that and into the footboard.
Or you could consider an "invisible fence" and collar on the dog. http://www.invisiblefence.com/
