I would like to know if I can use firewood on a gas burning fireplace. I shut off the gas supply line already but I'm still having doubts re: fire hazard issues. I don't plan to disconnect the gas line yet.
With the rising gas prices I just want to be prepared early for winter, fellas.
Short answer is , NO.
Don't even try it.
One question to find out was the fireplace originally a wood burner that had a gas log installed. If so the answer may be yes. Evaluation of the fierplace & flue by a professional would be in order before proceeding.
As Ed21 says if the fireplace was built for wood chances are you can, however it should be inspected to make sure. If it was designed and flued strictly for gas then, No.
