Garage floor

Our garage floor is a stepdown from the rest of the house, we are wanting to make the floor the same level as the rest of the home. Can we do this?

If you're turning the garage into living space, yes. If you just want to get rid of the step, no, it is there to help prevent toxic fumes from entering the house. Gasoline and solvent fumes are heavier than air, so they pool on the floor. If the step wasn't there, they'd seep right into the house.

If you need to install a ramp for handicap purposes, that would be fine, as long as the main garage floor remains below the house floor.
