Garage Door Framing

I have a 9 foot garage door. I would like to know the rough opening for this door. Top to Bottom and Side to Side. I do not have a spring door assy. It is a straight roll up door. i would like to know the framing and how to hook up the door brackets and so forth. I have three 2x4 cripple studs on each side holding up the headers. I then have a 2 x 6 on each side, butted up to the 2x4's. The opening is 8' 10" rough opening by 7' in height. is everything ok and am I doing something wrong or do i need adjustments. I cannot find any illustrations on the web at all. I NEED PICTURES LOL. please HELP ME!

Many of the garage door mfgrs are apparently afraid of liability if they post instructions on the web.

Anyway, that seems to be the position of the below mfgr, Clopay, which is a large mfgr of garage doors---yet they have other sites that download pdf instructions.

They've posted a diagram at the site below, with all the parts, but no instructions.

Google "garage door" "installation instructions" or "garage door" installation.

You should get numerous sites that post their instructions.

You might try the Yellow Pages under "garage doors" to see if one of the local companies in your area will give you a photocopy of the instructions.

Also note that HD/Lowe's have a policy of leaving the instruction sheet for the garage door kits out on the shelf so the customer can read thru it to decide if they can handle it as a diy project---they may very well make a copy on their back room copier as a customer service.

Nearly all garage doors are installed the same way, regardless of the mfgr.
