Kent .... was that cash or credit card ? :D

Re: Funding for historic building preservation

Thanks Canuk! If kent just stops and thinks, money for these projects are set aside in funds for just this purpose. People and organizations get them everyday. Nike, Apple and other companies got their start up from government grants. So is he going to boycott the use of their products? If so, he had better do some research and find out all the companies that have started due to grants.
I am trying to perserve history here and am not going to be reckless with government funds. If I restore this building, the city and its people have the most to benefit for years to come. The building has a monument in front of it from the city. It would be nice to see that appreciation be reflected in the building.

I built a hydrogen generator the size of a cooler and I'm putting power back on the grid with it. ;)

Why would I care about your power bill....mine was half that. Maybe you should conserve.

Zengirl, you infantile attempt at character assassination and name calling add nothing to your credibility. You stated in the original post that you wanted to restore an historic commercial building as your private residence. In my opinion this is not historical restoration, it is a bastardized conversion of an historic building. It is my position that such conversions should only be done with private money. Just because someone else sucked money out of the system doesn't make it right. Your examples of "Nike, Apple and other companies got their start up from government grants" points out money invested to create jobs and wealth for many people not to just enhance the value of one persons personal property, so it is not relevant. If this building is so important to your neighbors and city why don't you seek their help, or do they also think it's wrong to invest their money in someone else's property.

That is a credit not a balance due............

Do you have plans, and how are you generating the hydrogen?

Well into chapter five. I bought a green lightbulb for a desk lamp in my study and to set the mood for writing and I type well into the midnight hours.

Just a hint. Lucky really needs to get to the vet at this point in time........... The mailman perhaps, but the grocery delivery man seems like a nice person........ A well timed escape when the old creaking screen door opens. A well timed escape was needed. And yet, for all Lucky has been through. Lucky has no idea if it is a friendly or unkind world on the outside......... Lucky knows the grocery delivery man leaves the side door open on his van when making deliveries come rain or shine....... Lucky knows to pick a day when he must park behind old man Curtis next door, when his old Caddy is parked out back on a day he did not go to play bingo with the sisters and the side door could not be seen from the house. Blocked by the little single car garage that housed the 62 pink Plymouth with the tail wings, tires long flat and fuel turned to gel in the lines.........Enough energy left to scamper that far and make the final leap into the van? Lucky ponders the question at great depth.
