Framing a Basement Door, Windows

I plan to frame out my walkout basement, which has a double door & two windows. Any ideas on how frame around them? Thanks.

Re: Framing a Basement Door, Windows

I'd suggest that you either do a little research on the web or get a book, showing framing techniques. It will have pictures of how to frame in doors and windows, using jack studs and headers. Rather than me telling you about it, get a picture. It's not complex but a picture's worth a 1000 words. Just make sure you use a header above each opening since you're messing with a bearing wall.

With the double door, you may even want to build a temporary brace under the floor joists above your opening while you've got the opening cut apart. Get the new framing done and then take out the temp brace.

Good Luck.

Thanks. I'll probably have to go for a book. I haven't found what I'm looking for online.
