Fluorescent Light Fixtures

Upon moving into a new home, we have inherited 3 fluorescent light fixtures. Trying to use regular fluorescent light bulbs have not worked. Am wondering if there is something different in the ballast, starters or something else between the regular fixtures and the grow ones.

Re: Fluorescent Light Fixtures

Did these ever work? Did they come with grow bulbs? When you say you inherited these, were they installed in the house or did you inherit them from another source?

Re: Fluorescent Light Fixtures

The fixtures worked with the lights, which are grow lights, that were in them. They were "installed" in the house we moved into. I say "installed" since they just had plugs attached so they could be plugged into a wall socket and were hung with chains from hooks in the ceiling. Not permanent installations. I want to use them in the garage as replacement for the incandescent bulbs there now.

Re: Fluorescent Light Fixtures

Fluorescent lights have evolved in recent years and you can't mix n match them anymore. Check your fixture ballasts (T8, T12, etc.) and install the right bulbs. Your other option is to buy new fixtures.
