fitting my shower screen securely

Hi, I have drilled the holes in the tiles and put up the bracket and slotted the folding glass framed screen into the u shaped bracket, however there are no pre drilled holes where the pan head screws are meant to go and we think that on the bracket the holes covering the screen connection are over an empty bit of metal whereas further towards the screen there is some plastic stuff which i assume is where you would want to be screwing the pan head screws?

Do i need to drill holes in the metal part of the shower screen where there is just air from one side to the other, or do i need to drill holes in the bracket and the meatl bit of shower scrren where the plastic stuff is in the middle?

The screen works well as it is but very so often when it is folded back the screen can slide out a little. which is wrrying when it is very heavy glass!

Any help would be appreciated- also do i need a specific metal drill bit for this?
