Filter for gas furnace

OK, your going to have to forgive my ignorance on this. I have always had oil fired forced hot water systems. Now I find myself in a house with a gas fired furnace. The problem is that the filter for the furnace was missing when I moved in and I don't know how to figure out the right filter to use. Any suggestions for me?

Measure the length and width of the slot the filter slides into. Most furnaces are a standard size.

Thanks Jack. I thought of that but it just seemed too easy. For once the obvious soution was the right one. I appreciate your time.

Re: Filter for gas furnace

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to maintain your gas furnace plus save energy is to change your furnace filter. The filter takes particles of dust and debris out of the air before it goes into the furnace to become warm. A new filter will allow more air to be draw into the furnace and allow for more efficient running of the furnace.

Thanks
