Exterior redwood stain and carpenter bees

Hi everyone-my first post!
We live in Alabama and have a house built in 1963, which is brick with clear redwood siding and soffits. Carpenter bees make a good living there; we get the exterminator every year, but that stil leaves many areas of patch/repair.
1) Is painting the only solution to ridding us of bees? I love the look of redwood, now stained a deep red.
2) Is there a stain, or another product, out there that resists bees?
Thanks in advance for your help with this problem.
