Expose brick wall

I live in a home built in the 40's. The walls are plaster and lath. I would like to remove the plaster and lath from an outside wall and expose the brick. I need some pro and cons and some option on whether to leave it expose or cover it again with foam insulation.

Re: Expose brick wall

you have no idea of the huge amount of labor, debris and dust that you will have. You will generate tons of debris that you will have to put into a dumpster. The regular garbage men will not pick up trash cans full of plaster as it weighs over 100 pounds per can. There is also a huge amount of labor in getting this plaster off of the brick as it sticks well to brick. There is also a side issue of asbestos. Once this country got rid of most of the horses in the 1920s asbestos was used in plaster instead of horse hair. If you decide to do this and your house was built after about 1920 wear an asbestos rated mask.
