The dryer in my house vents directly at the outside a/c unit, which is not good. The house has old siding basically made out of compressed cardboard (from what I've been told) and has dry rot. The exterior hood has been painted over. I'm not at all sure the siding will survive if I remove the hood, and seriously doubt new screws (for a replacement hood) will hold. My hvac tech keeps telling me that there are readily available kits at Home Depot or Lowes that will fit over the existing hood, and allow me to run the line five feet or so to the side, so that the vent isn't blowing on the a/c (which ain't going anywhere), but I can't find and such kit or parts anywhere. Have I been misinformed?
