Dryer Electrical Cord

Hi,

I just had a washer and dryer delivered by friends to my basement. There is only one space for the washer and one space for the dryer. Well....the electrical cord for the washer is about 2 feet too short to reach the outlet. What is the solution?

Thanks.

Move the electrical outlet or buy a dryer extension cord for $35 from Home depot

There, fixed it for ya!

Of course, I'd say get better friends, but . . .

Or you could daisy chain another receptacle off of the one.

Another vote for this solution, because it's the best solution. Better than an extension cord.

And in case it is not obvious turn off the breaker if the outlet will be opened to daisy chain.

This- just be sure the circuit is rated for another receptacle. If it's maxxed out already, change the first receptacle to a single outlet and use a single for the new box, thus leaving the circuit load rating the same as it is now.

I would not want to see an extension cord used here, even one rated to carry the load as it is a wet location and that connection could get wet leading to safety problems.
