draining and refilling baseboard heaters

We have a baseboard heater in our house that needs some repairs. It has never been drained before. The boiler and system is about 15 years old. Some of the pipes are in the basement. The repairs we need to make are up stairs. We think that we can just drain it at the boiler. But how can we refill the system and get the air out. Any advice would be helpful. :)
