Do I need support brackets?

Help resolve a dispute...

I put a 6ft wide shelf across a large kitchen window for small plants. The board is 3/4 oak hardwood. 7 1/4 inches wide. I screwed it to the top of a window frame so it's basically cantilevered. The first 2 inches are over the frame, the last 5.25 inches are over the edge, secured from the top with screws. I put a couple supporting blocks on each end, which I don't think was needed but they are kind of decorative. My father in law thinks I need support brackets in the middle to keep from warping. I don't think so. What do you think? See photos.
