So then hard wiring would either be a regional issue or the personal preference of the installer?

Maybe the big 'ol Missipp is the divider? I have never seen hard wire, other than really old ones hard wired. Newer ones are all plug-in,,,,,,,,,,, Did three in the last couple weeks in commercial office applications.

Somebody needs to fill that ditch in so we can get ourselves some uniform building codes ... ;):p:D

I will add all those hard wire units mentioned did have a wall switch that also served as a disconnect.
