Discontinued Tile: Tierra Fuego, 18x18, Gelato Vanilla

I know this is a long shot but over half my house is tiled in Tierra Fuego, 18x18, Gelato Vanilla tile. We want to do some remodeling but would rather save the floors and fill in wherever we need to rather than redoing all the floors. I can't find this tile for sale anywhere.

  • Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might be ably to find this? I need 3 boxes.
  • Is it possible to pull the tile up from one spot without breaking it to use it in another location?

Any suggestions or thoughts is greatly appreciated.

Finding tile 6 months after installation is a long shot. Years later nearly impossible.

If the tile is well adhered you will destroy it removing it.

Tap tap tap to see if any sound hollow.

That's the downside of tile floors- you're not likely to find a nice match from a different lot even if you do find the exact style you need later on. If you don't have matching tiles on hand already your odds of finding even one full box that matches exactly are about equal to winning the Powerball lottery, and finding a close match is not much better. Next time you tile, buy and save enough extras for future repairs and alterations or you'll be redoing the whole floor once again.

I buy more tiles than I need for a specific job.

Most of times I won't use the extra tiles, ever, but it's good to have them around.

I buy extra tiles because if you have a replacement you'll never need it, but if you don't then you will and you'll never find a match

I still can't figure out why life works like that but it sure seems to!

Isn't it the same scenario as INSURANCE - life, health or auto...

If you don't buy it - you need it.
