I have a 20' x 20' pressure treated wood deck that is just about completed. When would be the proper time to stain this deck. Can I wait until April 2008, or does it need to be done before winter arrives.
Generally is best to let pressure treated wood dry out before appyling anything; some say 6 months. Since they treat it with a solution when making it, that solution may prevent any stain you put on from adhering properly. If the wood is not fresh from the mill, could be already dried out enough. I'd let it sit until April and then powerwash it to remove sap, dirt and discoloration.
